how does a tree consultant work?
Ever wondered: How does a tree consultant work? And, what exactly do they do?
Wonder no more. We’ll take you through the process of engaging Arbor Cultural. It’s
all extremely straightforward and we’re ultra-easy to work with. And, most likely, with
our expertise on your trees, your path towards the outcome you need will be smooth
and trouble-free.
Nevertheless, it’s useful to document how everything will (probably) progress. It
helps us to manage your expectations. Likewise, with a clearer picture, you can make
an informed decision. So, how does a tree consultant work?
01. Getting in touch
Let’s discuss what you need. You may have been advised to source an experienced
tree consultant for a specific result – planning permission, a property purchase, or
insurance, for instance. Let’s discuss your needs, the general environment, location, and time frames. We’ll provide a quote and agree on costs. Ready to go ahead? Great.
02. Site Survey
What happens during your survey will depend on what you’ve asked us to deliver.
Arbor Cultural will visit the site within an agreed period – normally two to three
weeks from when you first get in touch – to conduct a complete site survey.
This will involve visually inspecting the tree (or trees) and assessing its safety. Our
work will also include:
- Age, tree species, measurements including height and width, the overall health of the tree, and recommendations to improve its condition, along with recommendations for any remediation to address any risks presented.
- Analysis of the tree’s proximity to buildings, light levels or legal issues. In brief, our survey will reflect the information needed by your mortgage provider, insurer, local planning authority or for legal reasons.
03. Your Report
Your report will be as in-depth as you need, with clear, easy-to-understand, jargon-
free formatting and presentation. For instance, the planning side of things in a protected area will involve more information, a report for a mortgage application – less so.
Delivery times will vary and reflect the level of analysis that you require. Generally,
you can expect something from us in approximately two weeks.
In the broader sense, your BS 5837 tree survey is extremely important. It will offer
you excellent evidence of how healthy your tree is and will provide critical documentation before you can develop the land. Also, if you are a landowner, you are legally obliged to ensure that the trees on your land are in good condition.
There is a duty of care for tree owners to address any risk so that they are as low as reasonably possible (ALARP).
How does a tree consultant work?
An obvious answer, perhaps, but the answer is: With great care and with in-depth
knowledge and experience. We’d be pleased to offer you the benefit of our expertise, so do get in touch.
